In July 2019, biologist and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta and three colleagues were confined for 28 days in a 5 m² enclosed chamber, known as the “bathyale station” or “Gombessa V”, located between Marseille and Monaco, in order to explore at depths of 60 to 120 metres, where less than 1% of light reaches, without the constraints of decompression times.
